OBIT: Missouri Ledger, Odessa, Missouri, Thursday, December 24, 1931, Page 1, Column 5: Mrs. J. W. Shively Dead Julia A. Hood was born in Arkansas, January 19, 1878 and died at her home near Odessa, Dec. 19, 1931 at the age of 53 years and 11 months. Her family moved to the state of Nebraska in 1892. She was married to J. W. Shively, March 5, 1896. Three children were born to them, George, Los Angeles, Calif., Murl, of the home, and Mildred, now Mrs. E. E. Porterfield, Jr., of Kansas City. In 1908 she united with the Methodist Church. Besides her husband and three children, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Nancy Hood of Grain Valley; two brothers, Albert Hood of Independence, Patrick Hood of Kansas City and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Robinson of Lone Jack and Mrs. Stella Fishback of Grain Valley. Her funeral service was held at the Baptist church in Odessa Monday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. G. N. Magruder. Burial was in the Odessa cemetery.
